Take the mystery out of sewing sleeves! Dress no. 2 is a basic garment with set in sleeves and a slight A-line silhouette. The neck is finished with bias tape facing and there are optional patch pockets. In this workshop students will learn how to cut pattern pieces, attach sleeves, finish seams and make their own bias tape. The pattern in eight sizes, will be provided for you to take home. While this is beginning sewing class, you will need to have some previous experience using a sewing machine.

MATERIALS to bring to class:

- 3 - 3.5 yards of pre-washed fabric fabric, such as linen, cotton, or flannel

- matching thread

- fat quarter or 0.5 yard of pre-washed contrasting fabric for bias tape

Sonya Philip has always made things. It's the way things were done in her family. As a self-taught artist, she enjoys the freedom of exploring and stretching mediums. In 2012, Sonya started the year long project, 100 Acts of Sewing, making one hundred dresses while documenting the process. Since then she has made it her mission to convince people to sew their own clothes by teaching classes and selling patterns. Sonya lives in San Francisco with her family.
