Let’s make ceramic wall hangings! In this one day workshop we will make many different hanging clay shapes to experiment on & with. We will explore working with underglazes, sgraffito (to scratch or incise into the underglaze & make decoration/line work/designs/pattern/texture, etc…), painting with cobalt, copper, & iron oxides. We will discuss different ways to hang your pieces after they are returned to you. Your pieces will be fired by Jenifer & glazed with a shiny clear gloss & then returned to Handcraft Studio School within 2 weeks of class ending for you to hang however you wish. No former clay experience is needed, but if you have some or a lot, fantastic! Come with ideas & have a look at my pinterest page for inspiration!

Jenifer Lake's passion for clay started in middle school when she had access to her first ceramic studio class & fell in deep with the potters wheel & handbuilding. This has continued off & on for just shy of 3 decades now. Jenifer has been teaching in various settings for over 15 years. She’s taught at camps, workshops, studios, conferences, & in many classrooms to ages 5 years old to 70+. She often teaches at Handcraft Studio School in El Cerrito & numerous other bay area studios & centers.  She currently is a Kindergarten through 8th grade visual arts teacher in downtown San Francisco.
